Make things better by making better things.
In 1982, Tony Hawk had been moving up the amateur ranks. Apparently, while filling out a registration form for a local contest, Hawk was asked:
Pro or Amateur?
He checked pro.
Stacy Peralta, a legend at the time, saw Hawk check the box. Hawk asked, “Is that okay?”
Peralta replied, “If that’s what you want.”
The rest is history.
No massive contract. No big announcement. No social media back then. But that changed how he approached every decision he made going forward.
