Troubled teens or teens troubled?

Pivot Adventure is an adventure-based mentorship course for teens.

Often, people assume that means we work with troubled teens. But actually, who we serve, are teens troubled.

This is important distinction here.

Teens today have reduced risky behaviors. They are having less sex, smoking less, drinking less and are using marijuana less.

Yet, mental health is all on the rise. The number one cause of death for teens in Utah is suicide.

The real challenge going forward is mental health. The “troubled teen” as we knew it 20 years ago is disappearing.
