Make things better by making better things.
One of life’s great tragedies is watching someone spiral out of control. Like so many things, it happens gradually, then suddenly—by degrees.
There is no easy answer here. No panacea. No one-size-fits-all solution. But one pattern that never ceases to amaze me is the lengths humans go to avoid doing the hard thing. And the hard thing—often the right thing—might only take 10 minutes of courage: one decision we know deep down we need to make, after which the rest of life begins to align, and things become clearer.
A 10-minute discussion with a boss, a coworker, a spouse, or your child might be all that needs to happen.
But we hesitate…
Because we get caught up in the results of these decisions. We have a bad habit of catastrophizing everything around us. As a result, we hope for a miracle, as if waiting long enough might make the answer appear on its own.
No one has a crystal ball. The future is unwritten. Clarity often comes only with the next step, after you’ve chosen the path.
