Make things better by making better things.
Youth sports is in a tough spot these days. There is so much pressure on kids to perform and train if they want to even make the high school team.
And it becomes clear: the more competitive the league, the more development the top players get.
Most leagues get it wrong because they are structured for reps to go to the best players. The solution requires a collective effort to have those kids sub out, play positions they are not as comfortable in, or not start and finish every game.
But that comes down to the coach. And more often than not, they want to win too.
Last I checked, there was no shortage of trophies. Just go buy one at the end of the season if it means that much to you.
